DRAWING DRAFTING DESIGNING DIFFERENCES YOU MUST KNOW

Mechanical engineers who are working in the design area or freshers who are willing to get a job in the design field should be aware of of this topic called the difference between the drawing designing and drafting.

In this post I’ll you show the difference between these important terms which are frequently asked in any mechanical interviews.

These terms are more frequently used in the engineering drawing. Although these terms sound similar but they show some differences. let’s check out the difference between designing drawing and drafting.

What is drawing

The drawing involves the entire process starting from the sketch on a paper to the blueprint of the project.

WHAT IS DESIGN?

Design is the process of converting or transforming the ideas into a desired product to satisfy the customer needs.

In architecture and engineering, design is the pictorial representation of the building or the product. The design involves both the conception and 3D modelling which is done by a Computer aided drawing software(CAD).

 WHAT IS DRAFTING?

The drafting is the the way of creating a technical drawing or engineering drawing by means of drawing instruments such as drafter, protractor, divider, T-square etc..But now a days the

Drafting is usually done by by using the Computer aided drafting software(CAD). The technical drawings are prepared by using Computer aided drafting software(CAD) such as AutoCAD.

It is to be noted that the drafting is a part of the designing process or in other word the drafting is the tail end of the designing process which is either prepared by using hand or  any CAD software.

The drafting provides the information about the dimensions of the building or the dimensions of a product.
