Ferris Wheel – Definition.
A Ferris wheel is a large, rotating mechanical structure consisting of a wheel with multiple passenger cabins or gondolas attached to its outer rim.
These gondolas are free to pivot so that they remain upright as the wheel turns.
Ferris wheels are commonly found in amusement parks, fairs, and carnivals, and are one of the most recognizable and iconic attractions worldwide.
In the Ferris wheel, the gravity mechanism plays a major role. The original Ferris wheel was
designed and constructed by George Washington Gale, Ferris Jr in 1893 in chicago.

HOW TO DESIGN FERRIS WHEEL IN CREO?
To assemble the Ferris wheel in Creo. First, we have to design three parts.
These three parts are,
- Base
- Holder
- Seat.
BASE:
The base part is the mainframe of this Ferris wheel. In the assembly environment it has to be set as default constraint.
HOLDER
This holder part is used to hold the seat. In the assembly environment, it is first set as pin mechanism, which is a rotary mechanism and then mate with the base part by using the axis alignment.
HOLDER PART
SEAT
The seat is the compartment where the people used to sit in the Ferris wheel. In the assembly environment it is actually aligned with the holder part.
APPLYING GRAVITY MECHANISM IN FERRIS WHEEL
The main principle of the Ferris wheel is based on the gravity mechanism. To activate the gravity, go to applications tab, and then select mechanism and then select the gravity. And then set the Y value as -1.
And then, apply the servo motor to the axis of the holder part which is going to be rotated.
APPLYING GRAVITY IN CREO
And then go to mechanism analysis and make sure that it is selected as Dynamic analysis.
And select the external loads. And make sure that gravity is checking in and then click on run.
MECHANISM ANALYSIS IN CREO
And now the Ferris wheel must run smoothly. For design tutorials check out the video below:
