CHAIN AND SPROCKET MECHANISM AND HOW TO DESIGN IT IN CREO

A chain and sprocket drive is one of the power transmission systems used in mechanical Engineering.
A chain and sprocket drive is a type of power transmission in which a roller chain engages with two or more to three wheels called sprockets which are widely used in the engines, as a drive from crankshaft to the camshaft.
Chain and sprocket drives are mostly used in motorcycles and are a way of conveying power to the wheels of a vehicle. The chain and sprocket drives are still used in bicycles and motorcycles and in other Machinery. Chain and sprocket are used in many Industries to move slide carry and pull or push a variety of materials.

CHAIN AND SPROCKET MECHANISM

ADVANTAGES OF CHAIN AND SPROCKET

These are the following advantages of chain and sprocket drives over the other types of mechanical transmission systems.

  • They do not slip or creep and so are more efficient than belt drives.
  • They are more compact than belt drives.
  • They can operate effectively even at higher temperatures.
  • They are easier to install than belt drives.
  • They do not decorate, due, to oil, grease, sunlight, or age.
  • They can withstand their abrasive conditions.
  •  They can even operate at wet conditions.
Sprockets

In the below video, I have explained how to create the chain and the Sprocket mechanism in Creo. And also, I have explained how to create the mechanisms constraint for the chain and sprocket mechanism in Creo.
