Easy way to create an engine in creo

What is an Engine?

An engine is a device that transforms one form of energy into another form. However, while transforming this energy from one form to another. Most of the energy engines convert thermal energy into mechanical work and therefore they are called heat engines.

HEAT ENGINE AND ITS TYPES:

A heat engine is a device that transforms the chemical energy of a fuel into thermal energy and utilizes this thermal energy to perform useful work. Thus, in a heat engine, thermal energy is converted into mechanical energy.

The heat engine can be broadly classified into two categories internal combustion engine and external combustion engine.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE AND EXTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

The main difference between the internal combustion engine and the external combustion engine is that in an internal combustion engine the combustion takes place within the cylinder whereas in the case of an external combustion engine the combustion takes place outside the cylinder.

Components of engine consist of

  • cylinder block
  • The piston
  • Connecting rod
  • Crankshaft
  • Camshaft.

CYLINDER BLOCK

It is the main supporting element in an engine. The cylinder head is mounted on the cylinder block. The cylinder head and the cylinder block are provided with a water jacket in case of water cooling or with cooling fins in the case of an Air colling engine.

CYLINDER

As the name implies it is a cylindrical vessel or space in which the Piston undergoes the reciprocating motion. In the cylinder, the linear motion of the piston is converted into the rotary motion of the crankshaft.

PISTON

The piston is the major component in an engine. The piston converts the reciprocating motion into rotary motion.
