In SolidWorks, “Document Properties” refers to settings and options that control various aspects of a specific document’s behavior and appearance.
These properties include settings for units, drafting standards, dimensions, annotations, and more.
You can access and modify document properties to customize how your parts, assemblies, or drawings are displayed and managed.
Here are some common categories found within Document Properties:
- Drafting Standard: Controls standards like ANSI, ISO, DIN, etc. You can select desired control standards based on your countries or region.
- Units: Sets the units of measurement (e.g., millimeters, inches). You can also set custom units apart from the default unit systems such as CGS or MKS system etc.
- Annotations: Configures settings for notes, dimensions, and other annotations.Annotations are textual or graphical notes added to a model or drawing to convey additional information. These annotations are essential for documentation, communication, and ensuring that the design specifications are understood clearly. Annotations can include dimensions, notes, symbols, and other indicators that help in defining and communicating the details of a design.
- Dimensions: Adjusts dimension settings such as precision, display format, and tolerance. You can set decimal precision based on your requirements. Also you can set don’t style and also point style.
- Grid/Snap: Sets up grid spacing and snapping options.
- Line Font: Manages line styles and thicknesses.
- Material Properties: Configures material- related settings.materials properties play a crucial role in simulations, design validation, and creating accurate models. You can also create custom materials if the predefined ones do not meet your needs:
You can access Document Properties in SolidWorks by going to Tools > options > Document properties.
